I'm planning a 'bou bowhunt in a couple of years. Can anyone give experiences with/suggestions for the better outfitters out there? I can only pull this off once, & so want to have a succesful/enjoyable hunt. I've read some real horror stories & want to avoid getting into a 'situation', so reports of bad outfitters would be welcomed too. Thanks!
Email me w/details if you don't feel comfortable putting them in the forum. arrows58@bellsouth.net
JUST GOT BACK FROM QUEBEC,IST TIME FOR ME , WENT WITH 9 HUNTERS WE DROVE IN , COST $1750 INCLUDES MOTELS UP TO CAMP AND BUNK AND 3 MEALS A DAY WHILE HUNTING, WE TOOK A TOTAL OF 20 CARIBOU , 4 WITH BOW BALANCE WITH RIFLE, WOULD HAVE HAD MORE BOW KILLS ,BUT 2 GUYS RAN OUT OF ARROWS, UNBELIEVABLE, WITHOUT EXAGGERATION WE SAW 10S OF THOUSANDS OF CARIBOU EACH DAY, WE CHOSE TO HUNT INTO THE WOODS , BUT MOST PEOPLE SHOT THEIRS FROM THE ROAD. WE BONED EVERYTHING OUT AND PACKED IT TO THE TRUCK, TWO TIMES i WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A HERD AND COULD HAVE REACHED OUT AND TOUCHED A CARIBOU WITH EACH HAND, TOOK TWO BULLS ONE 42IN WITH DOUBLE SHOVELS AND ONE 36 IN, ALSO GOT TO SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS, THAT ALONE WAS WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION, BROUGHT BACK ABOUT 200LBS OF BONED MEAT THAT TASTES GREAT, OTIS IS RIGHT ABOUT THE CARIBOU DROPPING THEIR HORNS IN NOV. WE SAW THOUSANDS OF BLOCKHEADS( ALREADY SHED THEIR ANTLERS ) BUT ALSO SAW AND GOT TERRIFIC RACKS, YOU JUST HAVE TO BE PATIENT AND NOT SHOOT THE FIRST CARIBOU THAT YOU SEE, ITS A MUSTDO AT LEAST ONCE, GOOD LUCK
usa-----Did you go with Mirage or Nouchimi? Plan on doing that next Thanksgiving----Trying to book it now, I'm 63 on Mirage's list & Nouchimi has not returned e-mail or fax. Did you use one of these or was it another? How long was the drive once you got into Canada? We plan on going in at Buffalo NY. Thanks CB
Otis , I maybe interested in a drive up hunt in the future , darn near eat up my Bou's from this year allready. If your looking for partners feel free...BT
otis----Do you have a phone number or website for Donat? Thanks. I'm planning on shoeshoes & a plastic sled to get the caribou out on----Sound reasonable?
CB, we hunted out of KISKIMAASTAKIN camp, north of mirage, If I wanted to I could have filled my tags from camp, its about 27 hours from Buffalo, its a tough drive if you get any weather at all and the last 340 kms are on an ice road very narrow when storming. it took longer for us to get back because the road was covered with caribou and they tend to run ahead of you instead of jumping of the road, one of our guys tried to catch a calf by hand and almost succeded. theres a long wait for this camp, but e-mail me and I will put you in touch with someone that might be able to take you in 2004, usahunter@aol.com
