The farthest was a mule deer in Montana at just over 200 yards. But the most exciting, by far, was a blacktail I shot in Western Washington state at less then 10 feet with a 20 ga. shotgun shooting a slug. I just about wet myself on that one!

I pass on shots at game animals over 200 yards, the vast majority of my shots are less than a hundred yards.
Varmints, particularly Fox, I shoot out to around 350 yards and generally do pretty well, very few misses.
If I had a big magnum I'd try some varmint shots out to five hundred maybe.

I'm the exact opposite
I use to hunt ground hogs from fifty yards, with a muzzleloader. Hiding in the nearby brush was as important as shooting.
Swamp hunting for deer was a specialty. The trick was anchoring the deer with one shot.
