Default Moose Antlers

Took Moose this last month. Not having shoulder mount done, but would like to have the antlers on the wall. Should I sand them lightly to remove the stains and scratches incurred while dragging the critter out? Then finish with what product? Also, being recently out of velvet, they are a bit light in color. Stain them? With what?
Thanks

That' s the way that you shot him so leave him like that. As for the scratches, that only adds character to the antlers and reminds you af the hard work it took to get him out of the woods. No way would I change anything about a set of antlers that I shot and wanted to put on the wall.

To change the antlers would be like going back and changing the hunt somehow. I would want to remember it exactly like it happend.

Another opinion here. Let them dry out really well and stain them. If done properly they won' t look really phony. A good taxidermist can stain them to look quite good. gg.
