Default First Elk Hunt- Colorado GMU 214

Hey everyone,

I'm headed out to Colorado on Sept 12 for a week long elk hunt. We are staying in Steamboat Springs and getting OTC tags. I was wondering if anyone had any places that they have had success or places that are always good in unit 214 or the other OTC units in the area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start with a google search about the area. And try to make your questions a little more specific. The way it sounds is hey where in 214 are your guys spots.

No we've been talking with the Wardens and Biologists. And looking into the Area around hahns peak. I've never been to Colorado let alone elk hunt. Was hoping maybe there were people that have been to the area or live in the area that might have knowledge that could help out. I've done a lot of google searching.

I used to hunt around Hahn's Peak. I took a couple pretty decent 5 pt bulls over in the dark timber around Crane Park. I quit hunting that area years ago because it began to get way too much pressure for me. As a resident it was easier to move to a different area rather than fight the crowds.

It will get more pressure now that it's been made public to anybody who can read it.

This is the biggest problem with the internet. It's ruined it for those who actually find hunting spots on their own.
