Default antelope

What is considered a Good size antelope(horn wise)? i shot my first goat last year which had 8inch horns. i was happy with that, but i was wondering what would be a considered a good one. Season starts this coming sat and ill be dead , after playing a game of ftball and then waking up at 2:30 to sit in a truck for 7 hours to get to where we hunt but it should be worth it i hope,

It all depends on the antelope in the area, like say Wyoming some parts a 14 in buck is considered a dink but in others it might be average and in another a trophy.
For me I wan' t mass and dagers and then length. My first antelope was 14 1/2 and the next ones were,14 3/4,14 3/4,15 and 16 1/2.
My 15 in. buck out scored my 16 1/2 cause it had more mass.

I would think a 14 1/2 buck or longer would be a good buck for alot of pepole.

I have another tag this year and I' m looking at one that is around 15 in. and mass but the reason I wan' t him is because he is wide, his horns almost lay flat on his head.
It is mostly up to the shooter.Hope this helps BBJ

I' m with bareback on this. One area that I hunt in Wyoming anything over 13" is considered good, but most people I would say you have to have over 15" to be considered a " trophy" . You aren' t going to find a " trophy" if it isn' t in the area.

Look for the crock of the horns to be above the ears, that is a good buck.

Also, to me, a trophy is a great hunt with good friends, and it doesn' t hurt that speed goats are great table fare

Good luck, and keep us posted, I didn' t draw this year so I am bummed out

Young Gun are hunting near Rapid or closer to the Montana line?
I have hunted in SE MT around Alzada and Boyes,I was down there in July and seen some real nice bucks, pepole are saying the antelope are running bigger this year.If you are hunting that side you should be able to shoot a personal best.

The average that way is around 14 in.A antelope' s ears are about 8" long so you can judge from there.Happy Hunting BBJ

Where the horns split into 2, I don' t know the correct term for it. If that happens above the ear, it should be a quality head.
