Default 3 or 4 rifle colorado #501

Any advice on which: season to hunt I have LO voucher for either season.

For my money I'd go 3rd. Generally by the 4th season elk have wandered down into South Park and onto private land that you may or may not have access too.

Just an observation.

Thanks for the info. Thats what I was leaning torward anyway, but didnt know what the lower elevation land was like alot of private or any public.

ive hunted in colorado all my life and i only hunt in the san luis valley the biggest herd in the state runs from the sand dunes onto the bacca grande on the sangre side but the 2nd biggest runs in the san juans where i hunt.

Just an FYI 140 plus acres are currently on fire in area 501 and it is growing.
