What's your longest shot ever successfully made on a game animal?
Recently had the thought of in all honesty how many hunters will ever even take/shoot at an animal at 400yds or more? very few I'm thinking.
Also after a lifetime of hunting, I would guess most hunters shots would be under 200 yards, while maybe one or two were 400yards or so.
I'm sure it's possible with practice and the right setup to shoot 800-1000yards, but really I'm thinking the fantasy of needing a .30-378wby to take an elk at 800 yards is pretty much a fairytale for most of us.

"Last night I dreamt I lost my favorite box call...it was a horrible dream."
My longest shot to date was ranged at 397-yards. I hunt in some pretty open country and still a shot over 250-yards is not that common. I try to sneak as close as I can, when I can.
1,350 yards on a whitetail on 12/20/08. saluki, thats it, its the equipment, and ballistic knoledge, I've taken 8 young people out who never shot past 200 yards, let them shoot my rifle with my advise and they've all made 1 shot kills from 493 to 722 yards
