Default mountain goat gun chiose

Alaska coastal boat hunt oct.
270win. mod 70 kevlar stock 3.5x10x40 leupold vxiii
300 rum. mod 700 laminate 5.5x20 night force
both guns have been tuned and shoot great
what do you think the light weight beater or the 5" group
at 500yds and only 35" drop

Odd having to chose between a pea shooter and a cannon. The RUM will put them down but like he said it is your shoulder. Wicked ballistics on that bad boy.

I would go with that one then. That caliber is just heads and tails better than most of it's playmates.

Mountain goat hunting and a heavy weight rifle don't exactly go together. Odds are you aren't going to shoot a goat right on the coast. You are likely going to have to hump it to get to one. I'd take the light weight .270 which only drops 3 - 4 more inches at the same 500 yards.
