Default Montana or Utah for elk hunting?

If you had the choice to hunt elk in either montana or Utah where would you go?
Why?

If you are talking LE elk hunts, Utah wins hands down, not much debate.

But if you are talking "general" hunts, Montana would win hands down in my book, but there might at least be some debate.

So what exactly are you asking?

Utah has more trophys but Montana has more Elk so Probably Montana if your not to picky about snagging a record breaker.

I would like to know the stats on these LE Units and the bulls that are actually killed.

No question they kill some toads there, but it seems they are publicized to the hilt too. What percentage of these LE tag holders actually kill a, say 350(I will say that is BIG) bull. I bet its surprisingly low.

I don't have any stats at hand, but think about it, UT produces more 400" bulls every year than any other state, UT has a much smaller elk population than other classic elk states, such as MT, ID, CO...

so more 400+, with way less elk, I think CO has around 300k elk, MT around 180k, UT I think has around 16-25k elk...

Does CO or MT produce a 400" every year? even 1?
