I have hunted alaska 3 time all diy hunts and I always said never go out of reach of your gun .I love to bow hunt but not in alaska . Saw 5 grizz on my bou hunt on the treeless tundra lost one bou out of 2 to them;ran him off by shooting and got the antlers.Saw 14 grezz on a moose hunt ,lost a hind quater and 2 hams and both racks of ribs.Tell me more about your hunt plans and location would help.

Did that hunt in 2001 .Hunted with guns and had to be 5 mile from the road but worth it .
Take a raft to get across the sag,

i found one in a tire shop in deadhorse and payed to use it a couple of days. You are going to love it ,get a photo of you in front of the artic circle sign with your local paper in hand .Pee in the yukon shoot a grezz and do an native and you will be a sourdough.Goodluck PS there is a great alaska hunting forum out there.
