Default Info on unit 16A in New Mexico?

Just hoping to find someone willing to share some info on unit 16A in SW New Mexico. I drew this tag, this year, and I am avid hunter from SE Oregon, and any info would be huge... Thanks

isn't that attached to 16D? the wilderness? The Gila produces some great elk. What season 1,2,3? archery? rifle? ML?

I drew the oct 9-13 MI tag, any weapon. I plan on using my bow, but I will take my rifle too. I am a right hand amputee, and shoot a bow w/ one hand. I have a number of trophies to my credit w/ my bow, just never hunted 16a in nm yet. I plan on being in nm 8 days prior to my hunt to scout. I have 5 bulls in the 300+ range, but I am looking for a 350+ bull from 16a. Thanks...

If a 340" walks in front of you I'd shoot it...but some big boys should roam the area, good luck!

I went down with some friends of mine from NM last year and called for them since I didn't draw a tag. We were hunting the first season archery, and it seemed to be just a tad to early to really get into the bugling action. Actually about the time we had to leave is just when it was starting to heat up. Saw a few good bulls and had some good encounters. But as it uasually seems to go wish we could've stayed a few more days. They laid off of some bulls looking for that once in a lifetime type bull, and acutally left with a couple of cows. So all in all a good hunt. Lots of beautiful country.
