Not looking for a dog, but curious if trackers had a preference between Cattle vs Pig blood as a back up to Deer Blood

A co-worker/friend has a dog from a good line of blood trailing dogs and he said the book recommends using pig blood. He also said a deer hoof or piece of hide will work too. Here in Missouri a person can call the county Dept. of Transportation and get a road kill deer when one is reported.
