Yes, I see 2-3 on a typical night

Yes, and normally have several opportunities


Do you have a problem with night hitting bear?
Nope, we have developed methods to turn their feeding schedules. We normally can get the big bears to switch their feeding times.


Do your baits pick up or slow down after the bear season opens and progresses?
The baits will peak between the 10th and 15th day on a typical set up. Though after the 15th day or so the traffic will start to slow a tad bit, after that date will put us into the rut and who knows what will show up then as the tankers are on the hunt for hot sows.


Are there lots of other hunters In the area?
There are a few, but with caution and a good hard sweat, we can normally hunt undetected. I have found that with the way that we hunt, even if hounds run the bait on you, there is still a chance at recovering. I did it this year and played my cards right and ended up with a decent boar.

What state are you hunting In?
Idaho-where black bears are normaly not black!

I do not hunt bear but have friends that do as well as guide bear hunts.

Yes and have saw a few already and not even looking for them..

Again though I do not hunt bear, friends have had great success..

Not for the most part, but at times a big stubon boar will create some havock..

It picks up for the first two weeks and then dog season starts causing some difficulty getting bears to come in at some sights..

No not really, Maine is a fairly big state with alot of hunting areas..

dont hunt bears much anymore but can tell you the last one harvested was a night hitter and we hung up a radio at bait to play through the night and harvested a nice blonde bear the next evening. hope this helps somebody.

Good stuff guys, thanks for the Info!! I asked the questions I did trying to compare your bear hunting to mine. Here's my answers to the questions.

Nope

Do you usually get a bear every year?

Nope. Been around bear hunting/baiting for 25 years. 18 of those years I bear hunted. So far I'm 50% on getting a bear.

Do you have a problem with night hitting bear?

Yes, It's a huge problem. Way to many other bear hunters In the area.

Do your baits pick up or slow down after the bear season opens and progresses?

At first they will always slow down but usually 2 to 3 weeks later they pick back up again being most of the other bear hunters are either tagged out or gave up.

Are there lots of other hunters In the area?

As I said already, way to many!! It's getting better though, less permits are being given out In the area I hunt. All the complaining finally Is doing some good I believe.

They have been a big pain for alot of areas here right now. Flipping over some of the small dumpsters that are out side of fome restraunts and ripping the covers off them. Getting into back yard birdfeedrs ect.. Just a regular pain in the butt.. Farther out into the country side they are raising ol cain with the live stock.. Just being what they are bears...
