the straighter the main beam the wider the spread. example ... when looking at the bull if the main beam is straight measure the distance between the skull is 12 in wide 12inch on each side = 36 in then measure the width of the palms they can be as wide as 10inchs or more on a big bull = 12 + 12+ 12+ 10 +10 =56 in a trophy bull anywhere.hope this helps.

I am not trying to be a wise one either, Around here it can change in an instance. Some moose have some very heavey brow tines as well some very long tines with a narrow beam. So really there is no golden rule when it comes to judging the rack I will try to post some pics of a few dropped antlers that I have found when I can get the chance. This might give you some idea on how to judge. But again there is nothing to set in stone except as said before about how big he looks. If it suite you then fine shoot it.. Here with only 6 days to hunt, the first bull I see will get shot..
