Default My First Bear!!

I shot my first bear this afternoon while sneaking into a hit bait. Its a boar and I shot it at 250 yards with my dads .270. My first shot nailed him in the front shoulder and the bullet exited the arm pit. When I shot him he started rolling and bitting himself towards me and I shot it twice more hitting it in the hip and taking out another leg. After my next two insurance shots it loped 20 yards and was down. As im reloading I notice my first bear is on his feet and running for the black timber. I gave a foot in front of the head and shot again and this time it was down for good. Im having it rugged. My bear hide squares out at 5 feet and maybe 2 or 3 years old and its a boar.

Congrats...... bear hunting is addictive. What did you use for bait and what time did you shoot it? Sounds like you have a good start at your bear hunting history...... good luck in the future

Thanks for the comment, my bait consisted of bread pasteries and molases. I noticed your other thread where you were talking about strike indicators, I do the same thing basically just to keep ravens out of the bait.
