Default 270 wsm Elk and Black Bear

I am going to use my 270wsm for my CO elk and Black Bear Hunt in October. I am torn between the 130gr TSX and the 140GR Accubond
both shoot well out of my rifle and have taken deer. Reports say you can shoot a lighter grain with the TSX and still get great penetration, This is the rifle I will be using and will keep shots reasonable, 350 yards or less.
I hope to get a 300wsm one day but for this year this is what I have to use so give my your advice. I dont like the 150 grain nosler simply because it pounds me out of my 7.5 pound Browning but if I need to I will??
Thanks

The 270 wsm will serve you well at those ranges. I would go with the 140 gr. Accubonds because you are still flying in the 3200 fps range and it may provide just a little more power over a 130 gr.

black bears are not hard to kill, any projectile you put in a .270 will do the trick. i can not speak for elk, i have never seen one of those in person.

Dalebow,

I have a 270 and a 270 wsm but can't comment because I haven't shot a darn thing with either one, but I did choose the Accubonds. There is a pretty good thread in the reloading forum regarding Accubonds. Seems like most of the guys on that forum reload with them (or at least they are very popular).

I'm taking my wsm for elk this year for the first time (just got it), so I'll keep you posted and would love to hear which you selected and how you do.

ACCUBOND 140gr. bullet is bonded ..for bear shoulder shot to nail it on the spot if the hunter does his part .

lung and heart shot for the elk ..i have shot moose but never an elk ..but i don't see much difference ..

If you can't handle the 150 grainer in the 270wsm, I think I'd stay away from the 300WSM. I load mine with 165 grainers and it kicks pretty hard. I'm a big guy so I can soak up that recoil.

I have shot the 300wsm in an HS precison rifle with a recoil reducer in the stock and it is an awsome gun with little recoil, just don't like the snap of a 150 gr in a 7 pound rifle

I've learned to get used to it. I'm shooting a Howa with the Hogue stock and Hogue recoil pad. It's a light gun too. I figure it's worth the benefit to carry a light gun for hours at end, the recoil only lasts a second.
