Does anyone know if you can apply for a Gen elk tag as a 2nd choice? It wasn't listed in their examples of options...maybe because you have no chance of drawing a gen elk tag as a non-res as a 2nd choice? I may have to call them up.

Don't forget AZ elk/antelope are also fast approaching. Jan 22nd if you want them to contact you if you made a error on your paper application, paper again this year, least for elk/antelope, deadline is in early-mid feb. otherwise I believe.

Applications for Elk end Jan 31. But Deer and Antelope go through 'till Mar 15th.

Unfortunately, yes. You have from July 1 to Sept. 30th. Preference points bought in this calender year are not good 'till the following year also.

Generalas a2nd choice? Yes you can, but they say that it won't do you any good because all the General tags available to non-residents will go in the first choice (round).

That's what I figured, but I'll probably do it anyway, maybe I'll get lucky. My plan is to wait to draw a limited area after that I think I'll start hunting some general tags/seasons for elk.

General on 2 choice may be possible. I hunted with someone in 07 that claimed he got his tag as a 2nd choice. He too was from out of state. I didn't know the guy, met him in camp and was very nice. Maybe he didn't know what he was talking about.

25% of the draw goes random but they all go 1st choice and based upon WY G&F's website all general elk tags for non-residents went 1st choice for 2008.

I really wish WY would change this....

I'd like to see it flipped or completely cut out....so only 25% went to the most points or that it was completely random, and those with teh most points obviously have greater odds of drawing but it's still a drawing...
