Default Quebec Caribou Hunt Raingear?

I will be going to Quebec this September after caribou. Any suggestions on the best raingear for the weather up there? I would like to be able to use it deer and turkey hunting in Virginia as well, so something uninsulated would be preferable. Thanks!

Get the best goretex you can buy. I would use uninsulated so it can be used for everything. Get your warmth from under layers. Caribou hunting in the fall is wet and windy no matter where you do it

I'm glad to see your going on a real Caribou hunt in Sept. We did that hunt a few years ago, I like it better than the Dec. drive up yourself and shoot them from the road. Good Rain Gear is a must, also take good optics , the only scopes that didn't fog up were Leupold's, Take some fishing gear as well, we got a few days of fishing in as well. Don't shoot the first Bull you see, they all look big. LOL

I was up there last year. Make sure you buy good rain gear. Goretex is not gonna cut it. I bought Helly Hanson Impertec. I had mine in Olive Green and was fine. Camo will not matter. The raingear will also serve as a wind block. I wore mine every day, all day. I think it was about $125 for tops and bottoms. Get both. I had pants, but think the bibs would have ben better. Pants kept sliding down when walking. The Impertec is reinforced in the rear andkneews so you can craw and sit without putting a hole in it. It also runs up to larger sizes so you can buy a pair to fit over your warm weather gear.

We had rain or snow almost every day in midSeptmember and the ground is always wet.

Good luck and have fun

Another vote for Gortex. I used a Cables non-insulated Gortex raingear for a fishing trip in Northern Saskatewan. We were there for four days and it rained hard for three of the four. We spent 8+ hours a day out in the rain. At the end of each day I was completely dry. It works GREAT

It might be a little late but, you might want to make sure the money that you put down on your caribou hunt is insured in one way or another. Or the outfitter is bonded to cover the money that you gave him. I'm sure your wondering why!

Well that's because 168 hunter lost $5200+ last year on booking a caribou hunt with Tuttulik outfitters in Quebec. The outfitter just took the money and has not got back to the hunters. Me being one of the 168. If the outfitter your hunting with is in anyway tied to Inuits try to get your money back asp.
Good luck.[:'(]
