Default bear hunting 101

first post

anyway, i need some info on bear hunting.

im from ohio and am looking for an area to bearhunt. would like to get a good sized one but size isnt everything as i've never taken one. i was considering coastal NC, tenesee and WV. does anybody have any experience hunting in these areas, hows the hunting on public grounds, what are bear patterns (feeding, movement etc etc) season dates. i would preferably like totake one with a bow, how far is to far to get a good hit on a bear, how many fps is the minimum etc etc. ive never hunted bear before and am trying to learn alot until next season. any knowlege is appreciated

weeelllll their is a lot of good places to hunt. Are you looking to do it yourself or looking for a guide? PA is always an option. Over the counter tags will cost you about $130.00 I think. Some areas have decent numbers, but hunting with a bow you wont have a very high success rate. I'm not familiar hunting any other state.

They have a good number of bears (or did two years ago) on the game lands around Cherry Point NC. It seemed that most everybody was running them with dogs though. Still my Dad and I tagged out amidst all the hoopla (just picked an overlooked spot). Lots of low lying swamp land...actually it is probably all swamp land...but the bears were in there and we did manage to get two.
Good luck.
