Default How to get Bears in w/out bait?

I live in virginia and baiting bear is illegal...I have scouted a spot in GWNF that has a huge wild grape patch (food Source) and plenty of bear sign. My questions is, since I can't bait, are there any methods of pulling in bears besides calling and baiting. I've heard of doing burns of honey and bacon grease but not sure if that is considerd baiting. Any tips would be apprecited. I plan to hunt the archery season which starts on Oct. 11...Cant wait!

Set up near apple trees, berry patches or the grapes if there is sign. Up here in the north we see them in the beech orchards and apples.
