Vermont black bear!

I have a great trail cam pic of a Vermont black bear. Please take a minute and follow the link to our blog http://www.onthegroundoutdoors.com/2008/09/black-bear-on-trail-camera.html and check it out. Our hope is someone out there can give us an idea about the size and weight of this bear.

My nephew, Ethan, got this pic in late August on his family property in mid-state Vermont. There seems to be a lot of food in the woods, esp. beech nuts.

Damn he's a big SOB!! He's 400+ I'm sure. Hard to say on how many inches his skull Is. Not a good pic for scoring.

400 would be quite large for Vermont. Average boar in Vermont goes between 150 and 300 pounds and it is rare for a female to go over 200 pounds. I think the state record is about 441 pounds and it has remained that for 25 years.
