Default Bear Baiting - How do I do a honey burn?

I'm sure this has been posted before but after alot of searching I couldn't find a description on how to do a honey burn. I tried it for the first time today and with great success. I am just wondering whento stop burning. The smell was awesome as it boiled down, but then it started smelling burnt. (which of course is because itWAS burnt). Do I let it burn that long? Or should I stop before it actually starts to smell burnt?

Anybody try anything other than honey? Maple Syrup maybe?

I was also wondering about the timing.Should I onlydo it onceor twice to attract them? The whole time I am baiting? Just before hunting? Same day/everyday I hunt?

Thanks in advance for any advice, as always, it is very appreciated.
