Default Practicing for Moving Caribou

I will be going on an archery/firearm caribou hunt next September. One concern I have is that caribou are always on the move. I have no problem shooting moving game with my rifle, but I have only shot a few walking deer with my bow. I understand the ethics about not shooting at moving game or taking shots one is incapable of making. I would like to practice at a moving target though to help me prepare for this hunt. Has anyone ever done this or does anyone have any advice for shots at moving game?

I would try and stop him if it's a long shot . See what works on the 1st. bou that goes by, a whisleor a kiss of the lips or maybe your voice. Now on a close shot ,I woulduse a little lead and not think about it .It can't be any differnt then deer or elk that walk though you shooting lanes.

Get a large truck tire. Put a piece of cardboard inside the tire. Post an X in the center of the cardboard. Find a slight incline and have a friend release the tire. You only need a slight incline for the tire to roll. You do not want it to go too fast. Try to hit the X. Then repeat the process. It is actually a lot of fun. Use blunts or you will have a lot of arrows stuck in the tire. Tom.

Good advice head0001, I have done the exact same thing. It is a lot of fun, and it really does work.

So you just shoot your arrows through the cardboard? Doesn't it tear up your fletching?

HE** yes you want to shoot through the target. If you do not shoot through it then the tire will fall over. Then you have a 50 50 chance of breaking your arrows. You do not need to use heavy cardboard. Tom.
