Idaho Controlled Hunt Deer and Elk Results are out

I didn't get my 11 elk, but did draw 11a mule deer again for the 2nd time in 3 years. So scouting canyons will kick into full swing in about 1 month.

11a's a good hunt.....big bucks, but as you know you'll work for um. All I drew this year was 11ax extra doe.

Here is the buck I took with that tag 2 years ago. Hunted about 20 days and took him with 2 days left. He was the largest I saw, my buddy took one that was wider and taller but not as much mass. Don't let the fact its setting on a 4-wheeler fool you, it took several hours of mountaineering and rope winching to get him out of the canyon, I had starthistles under my fingernails for months after having to cling to the hill side on all fours. Those canyons are steep and deep. I am going to have to start calling the landowners I know and try to get to know a few more as we scout in August and September.

im cant wait for fall now. i drew both my deer and elk tags again. now its time to start saving money, getting back into shape, and start scouting the first of august.
