Default Elk Sheds

We mounted the elk sheds I found this spring on a synthetic skull to try something new and display them, it turned out pretty good. I found one side, and took two weeks of battle spring snow to find the other side about 1/4 mileaway from the first side on a brushy ridge in the Clearwater National Forest.

The skull was about 80 bucks with shipping. It takes some one who knows what they are doing to mount them right though, I am sure I would have ruined one or two skulls before I would get it right. Luckly I have a friend and neighbor who does taxidermy and I had helped him hang sheet rock a couple months back. If you plan to have allot of taxidermy work done, get to know a taxidermist and volunteer to help them with whatever they need, they are good people to have owing you a favor.
