Browning 243 wssm and scope combo??

ok my stainless stalker in 243 wssm is on the way, Iam thinking a compactlight leuopold scope 3x9x33 and the 90gr BST for deer and antelope. What do you think?? should I go with the 90gr winchester xp3 or is the BST ok for deer and goats to about 300yards??

Why put a compact on this rifle? While antelope need not be hunted at twilight, deer commonly are most active nearest the edges of shooting light. A larger objective lens, relative to the maximum magnification, would be preferable. For a maximum magnification of 9x or 10x, I think you would be better served by an objective lens of 40 mm rather than 33 mm. I don't think you need to go withthe oversized objectives -- such as a 50 mm objective -- which have their own problems and disadvantages. But of course . . . this is all just my opinion. I've got a Winchester featherweight in .243 mounted with a 3.5-10x 40 mm Leopold VariX-III, and I am very happy with this set-up for deer and antelope.
