Here she is . . Tikka T3 Lite 30.06 . The feel of this gun is just awsome! Unbelievable balance. It fits me like a glove. So now it's time to scope her. I've decided to go with Nikon, but first, I have a question. The Monarch is thepopular choice. The Pro Staff is lookin' real good also. Monarch: $279 Pro Staff: $169 . . . So what am I getting for that extra $110 in the Monarch??

IMO $279 is already a cheap scope, and I do think you get what you pay for. Of the 2 I'd spend the money, and maybe more.....on somethign even better.....

I wonder what the average scope costs by gun costs......maybe I'll poll and see what guys say.....

That Tikka is nice. I handled one the other day the action was smooth as glass it just didn't fit me right. Let us know how it shoots.

Best way to pick a scope.......go to a store where all the modelsyou think you want are carried. Look through them in a side-by-side comparison. Clarity is my most significant reason for picking a scope and today most maufacturers have good quailty standards. Nothing beats a crips sharp image at all magnification levels. It's the last thing you remember before pulling the trigger and believe me when youhave a trophy of a lifetime in the scope you don't want to curse the gun that couldn't perform because the scope didn't meet your expectation.

Bottom line: I wouldn't use the price to choose the scope. It may turn out to be bad decision. Good luck !

Great question. I have a Nikon Monarch on my 300RUM, Nikon Buckmaster on my Ruger 30.06, and a Nikon Prostaff on my Rem 270. I like all 3 scopes and really can't tell the difference in them.

i have the buckmaster and couldnt be happier. Its the midway between the monarch and the prostaff, but all three seem very nice and clear to me.

Had good luck for several years with a nikon buckmaster on my tikka t3 243, but last year it lost zero and could not be rezeroed. I now have a burris, and can't be happier, take a look at the burris fullfields with the balstic plex recticle (multiple aiming points out to 500 yards, helps with long shots) for an economic scope.

Nikon buckmaster 3x9 $219 on swfa.com

Burris fullfield II 3x9 with balisticplex recticle $199 on swfa.com
