Default First time bear hunt

I am hoping to go on my first bear hunt this spring. Being that this is my first bear hunt, I really don't have any idea what to expect or where to hunt. I have been told that the open fields are a great place to start looking. Any adivce would be helpful.

Thanks friends.

Assuming you are staying in Montana to hunt correct. Not real familuar with that part of the country, but what I know of bears, is that in the spring they are looking protien and love. Put the two together and you should figure it out.

Go up to the gibsin lake near the sun river and glass the shore line for the first greens of the year they should be feeding on those big flats .If I remember right it's west of the town of augusta. I hunted elk there many years back and thought it would be a eazy place to see bears in the early spring. Think fresh green grass and lots of it and you will find bears in the spring, clear cuts ,swamps ect.Good luck let us know how you did.

In the spring they will be up high, on the south slopes where the grass and clover are uncovering from the snow melt. They like those little flats between the rocky cliff areas. Hunt the lower edge of the snow line. Use those binoculars.
