Default US Economy Hurting ?

What is the general feeling about the US economy ? We have never seen the US dollar so low...

Would this affect hunters wanting to come to BC Canada ? If Outfitters go to Canadian Funds ?

It will last until the media decides to put a positive spin on it. Once that happens then everything will be hunky dory! Its sad but true that the media controls our economy.

Actually there are currently billions of dollars pouring into the U.S. right now from Canada and Europe because the dollar has been so weak. Border crossings at the Canadian Border have been setting record volume as Canadians are buying in the U.S. because of their strong dollar. I've even heard of Canadians crossing the border to buy tractors and other durable goods because even with the fees and tarriffs at the border it is still cheap enough to justify the price difference even when on some tractors the warranties are voided.

I would guess it would put a damper on U.S. folks spending money in Canada for a while. If you are charging the same as you have in the past in U.S. funds then you are giving a big discount to U.S. customers, but then if you switch to Canadian you might be getting fewer U.S. customers. Of course if you are full up already then you would be much better off raising your prices.

Many Canadians are hoping that the result is that the outfitters have to drop hunt prices, making guided hunts more affordable for Canadians.

Man, the amount of inflation in general with hunting is hurting American hunters in general!! Unless you are a Pro-staff with corporate backing of your hunts or an executive it is impossible. I live in a 2 child home in MI that grosses just over100K+, which I feel is doing pretty darn good and my disposable income is just barely over 7K a year which don go far when it is split between the wife and I, there is gear upgrades, local hunting costs, kids sports, a dinner out here or there, and a tank of gas to go fishing or hunting every once in a while..... And we aren't the only family feeling that way!!! Our inflation level is out of this world!

Best advice is figure on the dollar being at par. The US $ shouldn't drop much lower if any, the odds are the US$ will rebound slightly. I would be more concerned about parties cancelling rather than the fluctuation of the $. Most people will not like charging CDN $ as they want to know what their trip costs.
