Default Legal Question About Bear Huntinh

I live in Virginia and I want to go with my friends bear hunting. My parents heard that it is illegal for me to even be on the mountain with the hunting party if i am not licensed. My guy friends say thats not true. The plan is for me to ride along with them but I wasnt going to walk with them with the dogs or touch or take place in anything that actually has to do with hunting. I looked up on the Virginia regulations about this and it said nothing of the sort, so I really dont know what to do as my parents are convinced that is is illegal for me to ride along!
HELP PLEEEEEEASE ASAP!

I haven't looked at your State regulations. But in my State you are able to be with somebody hunting as long as you are not carrying any hunting weapon and meet the Stateshunter orange requirement.

Wisconsin has the same law. But non hunters are able to purchase an over the counter "walk along" permit from what I have heard. I think its relatively cheap like 5-10 dollars or somn like that. Check with your DNR agency, they should give you a straight answere unless they are anything like the Wisconsin DNR

Im from montana and i never heard of that. Im pretty sure you can just go along with as long as you have orange on and no gun. I really wouldn't see why it would be a prob. Best thing i can say is call fish and game while your parents are in the same room and ask them if it is legal and if they don't believe you have them call fish and game and if that doesn't work, just come up with a good lie and go hunting.

The general rule, is that you can't be in the woods with a known hunt in the area, since they can get you on the possibility that you are doing a push for your friend. You need the licence and the orange, if they suspect you had knowledge that anyone may be hunting in the woods that you are walking in.
