Default Family Goat Hunt

Took the kids on the annual family goat hunt. The oldest boy is off to college and couldn't make it this year. The youngest girl wanted to stay home with mom (something about roughing it without the camper this year).
The first day we arrived to snow, sleet, and fog. Saw one buck right at dark. We did see plenty of animals over the next two days, but it was the tail end of the the hunt so these animals had been hunted already for some time. They were pretty skittish and the girls did have a tough time with spooky goats and hurried, off hand shots. Finally got the younger girl crawled in under a tree on a river bottom where she could take her time and take the doe on the hill. The older one tried several stalks. Finally found a doe, fawn, buck, combo. They spooked and started to run. She didn't want to take a running shot, so picked her animal and tracked it in the scope. They stopped right before crossing into a small ravine and she took the shot then. All clean one shot kills. The 13 year old is wanting to bowhunt muleys as well, but we couldn't come up with a bow (within dad's budget) for this year. May have one lined up for next year. Enjoy the pics.

This is the 13 year old. Think she is happy? Her second hunt.

The 16 year old. Really patient and was content to defer to her little sis until she got her goat. This was her 4th hunt.

The little guy. He can't believe he has to wait 5 more years before he can hunt one himself. He does have all the tree squirrels and grouse in our area in terror though (carries a longbow when in the timber with dad). Here with dad's goat.
