Default Bears Ears, North of Hayden, CO

What can you guys tell me about this area? I am going up there for gun season. I know this is a bow site, but I am hunting a different area with the bow. I was up there this last weekend looking around and saw no elk....they say there is a bunch there but saw no sign. We were north and east of the ears?
