First Bear Hunt

Im going to a Bear Camp in Timmins Ontario for the bear opener mid-august. It will be my first time bear hunting. I will be in a stand over a bait using my x-bow. Any advice or tips for a first time bear hunter?

Dont take the first bear you see. Judge the bear by the size of the bait barrel. Then look at the head and ears, especially the body mass. And before you get into the stand look at the paw prints and size them. Always add 1 if it is 4 inch pad then you have a 5 foot bear, If the pad is at least 5 and 3/4 then that bear will make book.
