Default First Elk & Mule Deer Hunt

Hey everyone - I am new to the forum, but looks like I will be back alot. Great site.

I would like to get everyone's opinion - I am getting ready to plan my first Elk & Mule Deer hunt. Wanted to see if you guys could recommend what State should I look at as well as any great guides/outfitters.

I look forward to talking to everyone. If you are ever in Georgia give me a shout.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Most people, if they're going on their first, they go to Colorado, since there's plenty of units where they have OTC bull tags.

It's a little late in the year for planning a fall hunt. If you need an outfitter go to huntingfool.com they have a selection of cancelled hunts it is a good place to start.

colorado is good if you want to see more people then game.Wyoming has more animals then people so that would be a good place. Icould take you next year for elk and deer and even antelope. Elk lisences are still available for this year and doe antelope tags but the rest were all drawn out.We have a family ranch I started outfitting this year and I enjoy taking people for their firsttrips and they always want to come back for more. pm if interested

That's cool, taco.

As soon as you can get a price list, let me know.
Are you also guiding for turkeys?

Usually, elk bugle the most during the rut, it's like the way turkeys yelp and gobble more during the mating season.

I hear arizona and new mexico are also really good. Make sure you check all those statesregs though. I was looking into an elk hunt to and Ive been told that in some of them you have to be drawn from a lottery. Also to find the best state to hunt them decide what kind of elk you want to shoot Rocky Mountain elk, Roosevelt Elk etc. Theres also Rocky Mountain Mulies and desert mulies. Southern states Differ from northern states.
