Default New Mex 16E Muzzy elk tag!!! Help

Well me and a buddy drew a NM 16E Muzzy tag. Can anyone share any experiences or tips from this unit?
Terrain and cover?
Altitude?
Herd numbers/ratios?
Weather norms for 10/13-10/17?
Trophy potential?

Thx
Bill in MI

Default RE: New Mex 16E Muzzy elk tag!!! Help

Ive never actually hunted the area but do know its on the northern part of the gila natl forest.I live in albuquerque currently and usally hunt 16d.If you stay in the area near 16d north youll see more elk however there are several large herds in the area.during september try to find a water hole and hunt over it.locate springs on your maps and locate the pond or well, you will all most always find a water source at these locations however some may only hold water on them during rainier seasons.trust me find the right hole and the elk will come to it ......all of them.as far as the weather it really changes throughout the day,it can be 32 in the morning and 85 on average during the early months of the hunt and you can expect rainy and sometimes violent thunderstorms to be a commonplace in the afternoons of your hunt.if you want a number to a great guide to lead you contact: bob king@@ 1-505-466-7964 hes a good guys and knows how to hunt elk, tellem bobby sent you.Anyway man I wish I had your tag!!!! thanks and happy huntin.
