Default NH Moose hunt help

Hello all. I am on cloud 9!!!! After 8 years of applying to Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont...I drew an either sex tag for Area A2. If anyone on here can provide any help and information..I would be forever in your debt and gratitude. First and foremost, I will and do follow all laws. Thanks in advance and good luck to others who drew...

Bill

bill , we also are going to be in a2. i drew zone 7 in maine in 04 right over the boarder. hunt the cuts early (first light) . i used a cow call (from cabela's) last time and got some answers at first light, even thow the rut was well over. good way to locate bulls. as it's only a couple of hrs. from my home we will scout later in the summer and fall. e-mail me if you have any ?
good luck paul t.

You have drawn one of the best zones in NH. We have taken a really nice bull and a big cow from A2. I will tell you that it can be real easy and real hard to take a moose there.
I do not know what your BIG game experience is but you are dealing with an animal that will dress out at 500 to 1000 pounds! Think of it as a dead horse in the woods that you now have to gut out, move to a road and then load on to something. It is an undertaking not to be taken lightly.
Getting around the area is easy as there are miles of pretty good dirt roads and no problem finding a place to hunt as hardly any land is posted.

I would be glad to talk to you and help you out - I live in NH. I also have some maps of the area that I could share with you and mark some places to try. If you want we can set up a time to talk.

thiswill bemy 4 time out for moose. twice as a grunt. we use mill rope, about a 1/4 mile of it and bocks. we dead head the block to a tree or rear of a truck and tie the rope to the rear legs of the moose. then we hook the other end of the rope to the rear of a second 4x4. you need a chain saw to trim away small trees and brush. start pulling and stand clear, one moose flew thru the air for a bit after the rope loaded up. I stupidly dropped him in the middle of a cedar swamp. I thought my son was going to kill me, we had to wade out to tie his legs. you might have to double the rope if its a tough spot or a real big critter. Watch the rope if it breaks it whips back fast!!
