Default bowhunting pack

i'm going to start bowhunting big game within the next few years. i was jsut wondering where you guys put your bow when you are hiking to a spot. i've seen many backpacks that can store a bow during the hike, is that what you would reccomend or do you just carry it with you at all times?

I use the Primos bow sling when I'm hiking and not in hunting mode.

I typically carry my bow, but have stapped it to a pack on the way out for various reasons. I like the Cabellas hybrid 2-in 1 hunter pack for bow hunting, at least for day hunting anyway. I use an Eberlestock pack for long range day hunts that have the potential of being over-nighters.

There are several good brands of bow hooks that you can buy that you can put on either your belt or the waist strap of your pack. Mine is a Tarantula, which is nice because it has a plastic clip that makes it easy to take off and put on.

Not only is this good for packing in, but I actually hunt with it as well. That way you don't have to grip your bow while walking around the whole day. It just hangs by your hip, and it's still easy to access if you need to get ready for a shot.

If it is hunting season and I am in the woods, hiking or hunting, then my bow or rifleis in my hand. You never know where that buck or bull will pop up and if your bow is strapped to a pack then you sure as heck aint gonna be ale to shoot him. Even whenI am on a horseI still carry my bow.

True bigbulls, but when we're hiking in or out of the woods IN THE DARK, not much use of hanging on to your rifle or bow! Concider that some hikes are a few miles, it's nice to have both hands free!

I always have bow in hand during shooting hours. During the dark I strap it to my Timber Hawk gear pack. I've used about every different one out there and they are the BEST by far. If you hook it on the side you can get it off without taking the pack off. If I'm going to fall I want to have the use of my hands.
