You've talked me into it, i'm going bear hunting

Ok, so i posted about a week ago about why people bear hunt and i got some good responses that have changed my mind, i'm going bear hunting. now how do i do it, what equipment do i need. I live in colorado so what is a good bear?

o ya, i forgot to mention i'll be bowhunting, so i'll need some recomendations for broadheads

depending on your set-up and the amount of KE your arrow is producing you could use expandables. That being said I don't like them for anything and don't use them. The biggest thing is a bears vitals are relitivly small compared to there body size so an accurate shot is crutial. broadside or quartering away only. if you can get it to the boiler room black bears are not that hard to bring down. You'll love it.

Your deer rig will work fine, but use a solid fixed blade broadhead.
You will need to learn their habits and food sources, etc. Contact F&G/DNR, look up the harvest stats for the last few years and check the success ratio.

Maks daddy, Spot & Stalk bear hunting, as it's illegal to huntover bait or use dogs for bear in Colorado,with a bow will prove to quite a challenge. You might look into calling them with a predator call. Have fun.

Use a good cutting fixed blade, the heavy fur soaks up the blood, you want it cutting instantly and leaving big holes is good.
Other than that use the same set up you use for deer. I've shot bears with anything from 50# and up.

check your regulations on broad head i think they have a min. cuting diameter. me i consider a 400# bear a good bear
