What are the differences between a roosevelt, rcky mtn, and white elk?

White elk?..............not sure what that is but you are also forgetting Tule and the Manitoban which are considered the original "plains" or eastern elk. The last of which survived in Canada and tend to have the largest antlers.

I don't think that there is such a thing as "White Elk". The Roosevelt elk are the biggest, alot of times over 1,000 lbs.

Rocky Mountain elk are the most common, and they usually weigh under 1,000 lbs, around 700.

Tule elk, are notably smaller than either of the predecing, and are the least common. They have small herds, and are VERY expensive to hunt.

I think the Manitobian elk went extinct awhile ago. They say they inter-bred with Rocky Mountain elk and Roosevelt elk.

Interestingly, I found out recently that the Red Stag is classified as the same animal as Elk... Cervis Elaphus or something like that.

Cervus elaphusare what we commonly refer to as elk. They also have another common name "red deer". They are indeed the same species with numerous subspecies (Norwegian, Barbary etc).

The major subspecies of Cervus elaphusin North America are as follows:

canadensis - Eastern Elk
roosevelti - Roosevelt Elk
nannodes - Tule Elk
nelsoni - Rocky Mountain Elk
merriami - Merriam elk
manitobensis - Manitoban elk

Merriam(TX, NM, AZ)and Eastern (Penn, Ontario?)are thought to be extinct.

Manitoban are not extinct.

I don't know any white elk. I can look in my mammal book.
