Default Buffalo Hunting Anyone?

Has anyone ever hunted North American Bison?
I've looked at outfitters, just for kicks, and it seems to be quite expensive, considering the limited population.
If you got one, please share your pics.

Up here there is an abundance of wild buffalo(I think it's the largest free roaming herd in the world)
For residents it would be relatively cheap
but we have to draw for them.

"Cowboy country"? South Dakota? [:'(]

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts he's from Wyoming. (Me too!)

There are private heards you can hunt around the area. Don't think you even need a license. Prices vary. Locally there is the Terry Bison Ranch.
(307)634-4171. Or www.terrybisonranch.com
There's a guy in western Nebraska (near Bushnell)that lets you shoot bison. Last time I heard anyway. Art Hottell, (308)673-5565.

So look into private hunts, unless you are dead set on a free ranging hunt.

There is a drawing here in Wyo for wild Bison. no guide needed. it's hard to draw and the hard part is getting it out after you get one down.
check out the Wyo. Game and fish home page for info.

Better than beef. Very lean though. Excellent table fare.

AND . . . there's a lot of it. An average buffalo can weigh 1500 pounds on the hoof!

We have been chasing the wild ones up here in Alaska for the last month. No luck yet, but we are going out for seven days over Thanksgiving. I think we will connect then.
