Default 338 federal, yay or nay

I'm just curious if anyone has experience with this cartridge. Does it offer any advantages over the venerable 338 win mag or 325 wsm, or will it be the wssm of big game cartridges?

If lessismore, then it should thrive very well.
For me personally, nay.

I hate to say nay to any cartridge, but all i see this one doing, is to get bullet makers to make lighter bullets in .338 diameter! Then guys will start useing those light bullets on too big of animials!

If you like old classice like the 358 Win. then the .338 Federal is for you.... If you want some power for bigger animials, then i say the 338-06 is the starting point for you....

At least the .338-06 will drive 250 grain and up at decent velocities!!!

I think it will be a good rifle for a select number of chores. It is really what one would consider a Brush gun. It will be potent at close range and for those who want more whap than the 30-30 and 35 Remington it should serve well. We already have plenty of cannons out there, this one is not in, or meant to be in that catagory. Its sort of a short Non Magnum round. Some will praise it and More power to them.

It's new but it'll probably stay around for a while, I see it as a niche gun. Would I buy one, probably not considering I already have an 06 and 35 whelen.

If Remington brought out a Model 7 SS in 338Norma then I would buy one in a minute.
