Default billy goats

Lets here about goats ,my next goal in life .Who hunted them, where and how many did you see ? Photos ,stories or any thing about them. I have seen plenty while elk hunting in montana . I want a full body mount for my game room.I know I will have to go to ak. or bc. to get a tag, is there any body else out there planing on goat hunting someday?

I had applied every year here in Montana till I went with a buddy who drew one.I'm not fond of HIGH STEEP CLIFFS,or as he called them slopes.I spent most of my time suctioned(sp) to the face to scared to look around.I'm now content on moose, big horn and elk,you guyscan keep your billy's.

Dayna-have you thought about the Square Butte area, since you are familar with the highwoods?

Hey jack the last time I checked they gave 5 tags for sq. butte and the odds where I would not draw one befor my body wore out. I think they started a couple of years ago to give out 2 for the highwoods.I am near 45 now and the older I get the more afraid of heights or is it falling in to an abyss, that I get. From the first time I saw sq. butte I wanted to explore it but I may never get to stand on the top of it ,have you ?What is the elk population like on it ,It looks like a place where the bulls die of old age.

I spend the whole rest of the year waiting for November to roll around so I can get back to chasing goats with my bow. There's nothing better in life, unless my girlfriend's reading this.

Dayna,
I have been on Square Butte,it's a magnificant sight. As for the elk there are a few but not as many as one would think. They are now 10 for Square butte and 5 for the Highwoods(I belive).
As for old bulls dying of old age,I think thats on Strand's.

Kodiak,
Great pic.

I wouldn't mind owning a chunk of the Strand Ranch. Isn't square butte on that property? Me and a buddy drove out there to fill some B tags one day (when I was living in Great Falls) and they were taking a hunter over there to hunt goats. They had a massive pile of elk sheds in the barn by the way. And they wanted us to do all our shooting from the road as to not interfere with all the elk in the coulees or the other hunters paying big bucks to deer hunt. The nearby Merrimac is pretty sweet too!
