2005 California Bighorn Mount Is Back!

After 6 months I received my 05 California Bighorn Ram back! For those that missed previous posts in the past I shot this ram in southern British Columbia, Canada near Vassaux Lake. The ram is entered into the British Columbia Big Game Record Book with a net score of 154 7/8"The Ram was aged at 8 1/2 yrs.I shot the Ram on a limited Entry Hunt that I was fortuneate enough to draw the only resident tag allowed in this region each year. Its amazing how a mount can bring back memories as clear as the day they happened!!
I have the sheep bug now and hope to fill the BC slam!

Thanks for the posts! In BC we can enter the draw year after year after year! Our Limited Entry Hunts are random draw by the computer. No preference points etc... You may get lucky and get drawn 10 consecutive years.....or never! Its just luck of the draw! In early spring we receive a paper stateing all of the limited entry hunts available and the approx. odds of drawing a tag for each species in each region/zone. The odds are based on the previous years drawing. You select the species and zone of your choice and submit a LEH card with approx. $7cdn and you are entered! You may onlysubmit one entryfor each species. My particular California Bighorn Hunt had odds of approx. 200:1 with only 1 tag available. Cost was $7dollars + my $50 sheep tag approx $200 in fuel $200 in misc. food and $4 for the .338 win mag shell I pounded the ram with for a grand total of approx. $461.00 cdn dollars! I love British Columbia!!!

Nice Ram.Yes sheep hunting certainly is addictive.The fact that I can buy ageneral bighorn license is one reason that I enjoy living in Alberta.
