Default Infuriating! But what would you do?

So me and my hunting partner are out elk huniting. I have 2 more weeks left to fill my cow elk tag. The date was Dec 10 and there was about 8-10inches of snow on the ground and the its really loud walking because the snow has developed a sun crust. It was a full moon that night and there were no clouds what so ever. So right off the bat me and my partner were thinking this is going to be a horrible day of hunting. Anyways its right at legal shooting time and were walking along this road when suddenly we see what looked to be the bedding and feeding area of at least 40 elk and it was fresh. Then suddenly we hear a bugle. We both look at eachother and say that couldn't be a elk its way to late in the season for that then suddenly another bugle then the cow's start chearping. They were only about 200yds away on the other side of some brush. So we get down and start crawling towards the elk and they have no idea were there cause you can hear them walking around and goin about there thing, plus we have a good 10m/hr wind in our face as were crawling along the road just about to peak around the bush and see the heard i look further up the road and see head lights. DAMN there goes the elk. The farmers land we hunt on doesn't allow people to drive around so we figured it was the farmer. Wrong it was a guy we used to hunt with. So we walk over to him and ask what he was doin. He said he was heading out from the cabin(the farmer has a old cabin about 4miles back into his property) right away i know hes lying because who would leave at the perfect time of day for hunting. So me and my partner carry on and tried to find the elk but they were long gone. So we headed out at about noon and we noticed that there were no tracks heading so that made us even more pissed off. So we ended up telling the farmer what had happened and he ended up kicking him off the property for good. And we never got my tag filled.

Now my question is would you report him to the authority's for road hunting even though you did hunt with him at one point but you stopped hunting with him because he was an un ethical hunter?

IMO, no reason to turn him in to the authorities because they/you don't have any proof that he was road hunting! It sounds like you don't like him and want to get him in trouble. SO, once you have solid proof that he is breaking the law, then turn him in. Ya got him "kicked off of the property, that's about all ya can do until he breaks a law!

I don't think they can pin anything on him for road hunting. Road hunting is not illegal. Shooting from a vehicle is. As far as I know, there is no written law anywhere that says you can't drive roads looking for animals, then get out and shoot it. As long as you are not shooting across a main road or highway, there is no crime. Now if the people are driving down the road, see an animal, and then shoot it from the vehicle, then we have a problem. If it's illegal to hunt from a vehicle and get out and shoot an animal, then I have broken that law MANY times.

In Pa. there is a law that says it is unlawfull to locate game from a moterized vehical. Sounds silly to my western friends I know.

Not trying to start anything here, just want to put a scenario in front of you.

You are running late. Flat tire on the way to the farm. The spot where you park your truck and walk to your stand is say... 1/2 mile from the main road. Your going in to the parking spot, its legal shooting time. A legal deer stops off to the side of the road. You can't get out of your truck, jack a shell in the chamber, get off the road and shoot the deer?

In PA that would be illegal, road hunting and in violation of the law that says you have to be 25 yards off the road to shoot. Me no I would not do it.
