Yes, I've had bear before, and it must have been prepared right and eating the right stuff, because it tasted very good.I hope mine is as good when I get it and fix it up.

Bear are a lot like hogs. Is a moist meat and works better for sausage or salami and such than deer or elk. Generally have to add pork or beef fat to deer and elk when ground to keep it from drying out. Sitting down to a big ol'bear steak is ussually not much of a thrill for most woodsman. If you have a local taxidermy, stop by and they are generally very helpful in showing where to make cuts for skinning and often offer handouts. If you you ruin the skin they loose money. Shed33, that looks like a heck of a Idaho bear.

Race..thanks he was a pretty good one.. spring bear, hanging meat and head/hide april 30th went 300+lbs ...skull got officially scored at 19 14/16ths ..aged at 12-15
Race I see Hells Canyon on your profile... Cool bud, I spend a lot of time down there with my Brother from Riggins.. he hasa jet boat..we sturgeon fish it as much as we can.. shed hunt it etc... have a good one... signing out from the Panhandle...
