Default elk weights in your area.

I am wondering what the average mature elk weighs in your area.(live weight). In my area a mature bull will usually weigh 600 to 700 lbs with some 800lbs and the odd 900lb monster.A mature cow will usually make 500 lbs with some exceedind 600lbs.

Here in Idaho a mature 6point will average 750lbs, so it appears that's close to you guys up north there!

Same goes with a cow, a mature cow can tip 600lbs.

I agree with roskoe-----About 750 for a mature bull, a mature cow 500 to 550. But after I've shot them & have to pack them out on my back--- they ALL will go WELL over 1200 & it's a;ways up hill to camp!! CB

I killed a spike bull in unit 16 NM weighed 550 lbs. Killed a 6 x 6 in Unit 34 NM weighed 900 lbs. Killed a cow in Unit 34 weighed 550 lbs. Killed a cow 1.5 years in Unit 2 NM weighed 225 lbs. The rest would be total guesses. Good luck.

Well my bull (5 point) would have tipped the scales at 900-1000 pounds, this year!

My brothers 8 point would have broke the scales at 1200-1400 pounds , NO doubt about it!!
(my bull was big bodied but his was just HUGE!

Average bull will go 7-9 hundred pounds.
Average cows will go 6-700 pounds.

Well, my cow had a hanging rack weight of 225 lbs, or about 450-475 lbs on the hoof. After talking with a biologist, this is about as big as cows get, as we figured she was a good 4 or 5 years old, although some go over 500, but not very often. The bulls will weigh in the neighborhood of about 600-700 pounds atmaturity, from what I have been able to figure out. Some may top 800, and a rare one might go 900 to 1000, but not very often.
