Said it before. The Kolpin Gun Boot has served me well for years and years. I have the old style with the metal mounting bracket and rubber mount bushings for the case.

1Wildfire,
The original dissapearing is my fault......I moved it here because you posted the question in the wrong forum.
You'd most likely get a better response here where the guys use ATV's rather than the fancy bow presses they use on the "Technical Bow Fourm".
However I forgot to "Leave a Trace" over there so you could find it.[&o]

Your original is still here on the 1st page of the "Big Game Hunting" forum with some responses so you can follow up with that one and delete this 2nd one.

Sorry for the mix-up.

Use the Plano Gunslinger case now. Used others in the past. They all seem to work okay. Some of the mounts for them are not equal to rough terrain. Even if they are all metal. Had one break during elk season last year and just had to bungee the hard case to the atv rack, which works well enough. The rest is just a matter cosmetics.

Sounds cheap but i got one from Wal-Mart had to beef up the adjustment just welded it up solid with a extra piece of metal cost under 30 bucks and one of their scabbords under 15 bucks works good just if you looking for a little cheaper setup

Since not enough people are answering for you....

My favorite ATV rifle scabbard ....
Leather (well oiled with neatsfoot oil), room for scope, snap closure over the butt, adjustable straps: oneforward and one to the rear. I prefer the scabbard to bemountedso one pulls the rifle out while standing near the rear of the ah, er, argh "vehicle"

Careful standing to the "rear" of your "vehicle" there EKM!! You might step in a little "exhaust"!

RR,

Note that was, "standing near the rear of the vehicle...."
In any case a little horse $h!t doesn't deter any elk hunter that is worth his salt....

Places to go,
Things to see,
Elk to kill.

My primary goal this elk seasonis to "buddy up" with one of my camp guys that hasn't gotten his elk yet. He uses a 45-70 with iron sights. I'm joking with him, "so you are going to make me carry two rifles, eh? One for me and the 375HH (w/ 4x12 Leupy)for you so when we're "on stand" and that 100+ yard shot comes up we can have elk on the ground!"
He just smiles.

I'll get the last laugh though, cause I AMcarrying in two rifles and ammo for both of us. Both weigh in at or over 11 pounds each, good thing I've been burning up the treadmill.

How's the 338 RUM working out?

The RUM is working real nice. Burned about 100 rounds through it in the last couple months. A little tough around here as the barrel gets a little too hot for shooting real quick when it's 100 degrees.
My reloading buddy has put us through at least three different powder types, around 9 different loads and at least 4 different bullets!!!!
Ordered me a thread cap and retired the muzzle brake...about the second shot that noise was too much even with hearing protection. Had a magnum kickEEZ pad put on and my buddy did a trigger job on her and I have to say.......pretty sweet shooting rig. Truth be told, he has fired about 3 to 1 shots to mine, but that's the reward of being the "gun" man in the group.Has worked out so good that my brotherordered him a .338 RUM last week (Rem XCR). Partly because he liked mine and partly because the readily available(andmostly free to him) reloaded cartridges!!!!

We got Elk camp Fever down here!!! I am cooking beans right at this very moment! Deer beans.....red beans with venison and jalapeno's and mmmm!
Only going to be 6 or 7 in our camp this year. But still a good group.

How's the weather been in Colorado? We are still hitting a 100 down here.
Just another of the reasons that we love ....I mean love coming to the mountains for a week of camping! Elk kill or not.....I love it.
