Default hunting on short notice, with no scout time

As some of you may know, I am currently in Iraq..My wife says I can hunt on my R&R, which will be in mid to late November. I live in Colorado Springs, and will beed over the counter tags... Of course I would like to be successful, but just the cleansing experience of being in the peaceful woods, rather than this war torn country, is what I really want. What would be my best choice for area and species? I really want to Elk hunt, but deer, bear, or anything else would be nice!!!!

I would hunt the mule deer. Good luck and hope for you to have a safe return.

Hi WA:

You won't be able to hunt mulies in Colorado this year. You can get over the counter elk tags, and only then, you could get a bear tag for the same season, if you wanted.

What kind of hunting are you looking for?
