I went again last night looking for a nice bull to give chase toduring this archery season. Saw elk but not the bull or bulls I am wanting to pursue, but with four weeks to go I am sure I'll find one or a few. Anyway I took my 3 1/2 year old son with me. I carried him some and he walked some after our6 mile 4wheeler ride.Once we got to where we could glass and look for elk I told him he had to wisper and be quiet and I was surprized at how well he did. We sat in one spot for about a hour and a half until dark with out talking or moving, I gave himan older par of bino's and he was having fun trying to look through them. A nice little 3 point muley buck walked out at about 40 yards below us and was just feeding not knowing we were above him. Aaron (my son)realy enjoyed watching him. The elk we saw were far away on the other side of the canyon and I stilldon't think he could see them but he said he could. I know he seemed excited just being there, I will never force hunting onto him but boy I sure hope he has the bug as bad as his dad. He did very well and didn't get scared when it started getting dark. I was surprized at that. Anyway I am a proude dad and look foward to more trips with my son and daughter as well. I love elk hunting and hunting in general but I can tell I will even enjoy it more with my kids.

Idahoelkinstructor,
I am glad to see you are starting your boy out young. My father did the same with me. Your son will be hooked for life. In a few years he will be calling for you.
great to hear your letting your son enjoy the outdoors at such a young age! My 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son enjoy scouting for Elk and deer with me as well.Amazing how quickly kids inherit our traits and interests! Best of luck this season!
