what is your best tip for elk hunting, this year i will be hunting in the wilderness on a pack in hunt. i have a buddy going that has never hunted elk with archery. so what would be some good tips? anyone and anything! thanks
learn the area as much as possible....before the hunt begins. Weather it be with topo. maps or scouting, or both. I think most of my elk success has been do to knowing the area and the tendencies of the elk in that area!

This is the best advise as well as being physicallyfit.
I'll 2nd, 3rd, whatever the being in shape. Elk country is tough country. You usually have no problem finding them if you get off the roads and back into the deep country.
Keep a positive attitude.
Elk huntingis a mental game. Sometime I can hunt for a few days and not see a single elk. I am always hunting in good elk country. I keep my attitude positive & my mind focused. I know if Istay focused? I willhave elk in shooting range before long. I am in good physical condition. Being in good physical condition helps me with the mental side of elk hunting.
I agree with all of the above . May I add you have to sleep good and eat good while you are out there and stay well hydratedit dont matter if you are inthe best shape if you dont keep up on your water and food intake you will ware out . Flatlanders take note!!!
